Overview
Find the WMS, WFS and ArcGIS layers behind any web map and open them in QGIS. Or save a GeoPackage.
See the GIS layers behind any web map, and open them in QGIS in one click. Open the side panel on a page. The extension lists the map services and geo files that page uses, shows their metadata and a preview, and lets you open a layer in QGIS or download it as a GeoPackage. It is free, has no account and no ads, and works in Chrome, Edge and Firefox. It is built for people who work with QGIS or ArcGIS and are tired of digging service URLs out of the network tab. WHAT IT FINDS - OGC map and feature services, with the layer names taken from the page's requests - ArcGIS REST layers, ArcGIS Online items and REST directory pages - Raster and vector tile layers with their style files - Geo files the page links to or loads, vector and raster - Dataset pages on open data portals and metadata catalogues A badge on the toolbar icon shows how many layers were found. Common basemaps are left out of the list. PREVIEW AND CHECK - Preview the layer on a map before you use it - Read its title, description, coordinate systems, extent and fields - Licence and provider appear as the service states them. Missing values are left out, never guessed - About this layer: a short plain summary built in your browser from the service's own metadata. TerraLab receives nothing OPEN IN QGIS - Open in QGIS: downloads a QGIS layer file with the right connection settings for the service - Download vector layers as a GeoPackage, in the coordinate system you pick - Polite downloads: two requests at a time per server, a pause between pages, cancel at any time - Raster and tile layers are opened in QGIS rather than downloaded as pixels - Copy the service URL, or save layers from several sites and export them as one QGIS layer file - Each layer links to AI Agent, TerraLab's QGIS plugin, to analyse it PERMISSIONS IN PLAIN WORDS - Clicking the toolbar icon lets the extension read the tab you are on, once. Nothing else is read before that. - To scan a site on its own, choose "Always scan" for that site. Your browser asks for that one site. "Scan every site" also exists, is off by default and is never required. - If a server blocks reading from the panel, the extension asks to allow that one server, with a sentence that says why. - Saved layers and settings stay in your browser's extension storage. PRIVACY No analytics, no tracking, no ads, no account, no cookies. The extension sends nothing to TerraLab except map tile requests for the preview basemap. Service and file requests go straight from your browser to the server you asked about. MADE BY TERRALAB TerraLab makes plugins for QGIS. Not affiliated with Esri or the QGIS project.
