WaveTrace identifies music playing in your current browser tab using multiple music-recognition providers. Start a Short Scan for quick recognition, or use Ultra mode for longer full-song recognition with AcoustID/Chromaprint. The companion runs only when WaveTrace needs it and does not remain running permanently. WaveTrace does not include shared provider API credentials. Where required, users configure their own credentials in the extension settings. Some recognition providers require your own API key. Many offer free access or free tiers. API availability, usage limits, expiration policies, and pricing are managed by each provider and may change over time. WaveTrace has one purpose: helping you identify music that is playing in your browser.
