Claude Watermark Remover removes invisible Unicode characters from text copied from AI assistants. Watermark Remover for Claude & AI detects hidden characters that can survive copy and paste into documents, emails, forms, and code, then gives you a clean version of the text. Use the popup for manual cleaning, inspect a page for hidden characters, or enable paid workflow tools for automatic copy-and-paste cleaning. Standard cleaning runs locally in your browser. WHAT IT REMOVES - Zero-width characters, including U+200B, word joiner, and BOM - Dangerous bidirectional controls: overrides and unpaired embeddings. The audit still reports directional marks, isolates and valid embedding pairs for review - Unicode tag characters, including U+E0001 and U+E0020–U+E007F - Variation selectors: VS1–VS16 and VS17–VS256 - Private use area characters, across all three planes - Soft hyphens, combining grapheme joiners, interlinear annotation marks, and other supported format-class codepoints - Optional advanced cleaning for exotic spaces, Unicode normalization, and Cyrillic or fullwidth lookalikes WHAT IT KEEPS Some invisible Unicode is linguistically or visually meaningful. The default cleaner preserves: - Emoji glue, so 👨‍👩‍👧 and ❤️‍🔥 stay whole - Script joiners inside Persian, Arabic, Devanagari and other complex scripts - Regional and flag tag sequences - Hangul jamo fillers, Mongolian free variation selectors, Khmer inherent vowels - Orthographic Arabic and Syriac marks - RTL directional marks/isolates and complete embedding pairs (reported by Audit, preserved by default) An optional paranoid mode removes additional characters and may visibly alter text. It is off by default. WAYS TO CLEAN AND INSPECT TEXT - Manual cleaner: paste text into the popup, review what was found, and copy the cleaned result - Copy and cut cleaning: remove supported hidden characters before text reaches the clipboard - Website Copy buttons: cover interfaces that use the asynchronous Clipboard API - Paste cleaning: clean text as it lands in an input, textarea, or rich editor - Context menu: right-click and choose “Copy without hidden watermarks” - Page audit: scan the current page and see each codepoint, Unicode name, class, count, and location Plain text and HTML are supported. For HTML clipboard content, the cleaner edits literal text segments without rewriting tags, attributes, or URLs. THE PAGE AUDIT Scan the page you are viewing and get an inventory of hidden Unicode characters. When the audit finds something, its text can be opened in the Clean tab. Script, style, pre, code, and form fields are skipped so executable code and in-progress form entries are not rewritten by the page scan. BATCH CLEAN AND AUDIT EXPORT (PRO) Clean up to 100 UTF-8 text, Markdown, HTML, CSV, or JSON files in one local pass. Download a ZIP with cleaned copies, an aggregate summary, and per-file JSON and Markdown audit reports. PDF and Word files are not accepted. THE TYPOGRAPHY PASS (optional, off by default) Optionally normalize curly quotes, ellipsis glyphs, primes, and selected dashes to plain ASCII. This setting is disabled by default because it changes visible text. OPTIONAL REWRITE TOOLS (PRO AND ULTIMATE) Rewrite tools help edit the structure, tone, and flow of text you provide. The extension compares numbers in the result with the source and warns when a figure may have been added, changed, or removed. AI output can still contain errors, so review every result before using it. Three engines: - On-device rewrite (Pro): uses Chrome's built-in model. The submitted text stays on your device and no API key is required. - Bring your own API key (Pro) endpoint. Provider terms and charges apply. Keys are stored locally and are not synced. - Managed rewrite (Ultimate): no personal API key is required. Ultimate includes 100 monthly credits. Each started 2,000 source characters uses one credit, with an 8,000-character limit per request. PRIVACY AND NETWORK DISCLOSURE - Local by default: manual and automatic standard cleaning, inspection, page auditing, batch processing, audit export, and on-device rewrite run locally. - Page and clipboard text used by local features is processed in browser memory; it is not sent to our server. - Settings may sync through your Chrome profile. Cleaning counters and API keys remain in local extension storage. - ExtensionPay is contacted periodically to verify paid access. - When you explicitly run managed rewrite or enable and use Ultimate cleaning, the submitted text and instructions are sent over HTTPS through our metered backend to DEFT, a third-party AI processing provider. Subscription information is used to verify access and meter monthly credits. Under DEFT's published policy, it may use prompts, drafts, outputs, and run metadata to troubleshoot and improve its service unless a separate written agreement applies. - When you explicitly use a bring-your-own-key engine, the submitted text and API key are sent directly to the provider or endpoint you selected. - The extension does not include advertising analytics and does not sell user data. CORRECTNESS The Unicode cleaning engine has regression and parity tests covering cleaned output, removal counts, codepoint types, inspect ordering, and offsets across 45 fixtures and six option sets. Hidden-character cleaning cannot remove statistical watermarks encoded through word choice, prove that text was written by a person, or guarantee any detector score.
