## Overview Water Usage Tracker for ChatGPT (Unofficial) helps raise awareness of the environmental footprint of AI usage by estimating the water required to cool data centers during your prompts. Each time you type in ChatGPT, the extension provides a live estimate of water consumption (in milliliters per prompt), maintains a daily log, and allows you to export your usage history as a CSV file. ## Features - 💧 Live tracking: See estimated water usage for your current prompt. - 📅 Daily totals: Track how much water has been consumed today. - 📊 Log view: Review past usage by date. - ⬇️ CSV export: Download your log for analysis or record-keeping. - 🧹 Clear today: Reset today’s usage at any time. - ↔️ Move panel: Position the tracker in any corner of the screen. ## Privacy & Data - Local only: All data is stored in your browser’s local storage. - No personal data collected: We never access, transmit, or share your chats. - Control: You can clear daily totals or remove the extension at any time from `chrome://extensions`. ## Disclaimer This extension is educational and unofficial. Water usage is estimated using a fixed multiplier per token and does not represent exact measurements. We are not affiliated with OpenAI or ChatGPT. Developed by the SUSTaiN team through the Integrated Management Fellowship program at McGill University to encourage sustainable awareness in AI usage.
