WatchWise
Overview
See community-reported ad load before you watch a YouTube video.
WatchWise shows you how ad-heavy a YouTube video is before you press play. It adds a small card under any YouTube video with a score out of 100, based on real reports from other viewers about how many pre-roll ads, how many mid-roll ads, and whether the video has a sponsor segment. YouTube doesn't tell you what you're in for until you're already watching. A video might have one skippable pre-roll, or it might interrupt you five times with unskippable ads. WatchWise lets you know before you commit your time, using data from people who already watched it. After watching a video, you can submit a quick report yourself. How many ads played, and whether there was a sponsor read. Reports build up over time so future viewers get an accurate picture. Each device can only report once per video, and scores only appear once enough reports have come in, so no single report can skew a video's rating. WatchWise does not block or skip ads. It does not collect your name, email, or any personal information. Reports are anonymous and tied only to a random device ID used to prevent duplicate submissions. Full details in the linked privacy policy. WatchWise is an early, actively developed extension. Feedback from real users directly shapes what gets built next.
