Watch Later Cleaner
Overview
Clean up your YouTube Watch Later playlist: remove watched, old, unavailable, filtered or all videos — with a dry-run preview.
Watch Later Cleaner helps you tidy up a long YouTube Watch Later list. Choose what to remove, check the preview, then let it work through the list one video at a time. WHAT YOU CAN REMOVE • Watched videos: watch progress at or above a threshold you set (90% by default) • Unavailable videos: deleted and private entries • Old videos: published at least N days, weeks, months or years ago • Videos from specific channels, or with specific words in the title • By added order: the oldest N added, everything below a position, or a range of positions (with the list sorted by Date added) • Everything, if you want a fresh start Combine criteria with "match any" or "match all", for example "oldest 500 added AND published at least 3 years ago". PREVIEW BEFORE ANYTHING IS REMOVED • Preview (dry run) lists every matching video and the reason it matched. Nothing is removed at this step. • Untick any video you want to keep. • Preview analytics: videos and hours that would be freed, matches per criterion, watch progress, publish-age and duration breakdowns, and top channels. Click a channel to keep all of its videos. • Removing takes a second, explicit Confirm click. BUILT FOR LONG LISTS • Removes one video at a time, with an adjustable delay, a progress bar and a Stop button. • Up to 3 attempts per video with automatic backoff. After repeated failures it pauses, and Resume continues with the videos that are left. • Fast mode (the default) uses the same requests the YouTube web page makes, so it keeps going while the tab is in the background. • Classic mode clicks through the page's own menus. It's used automatically if Fast mode can't run, and you can choose it in Options. • "Copy debug log" helps with troubleshooting. It never includes cookies or credentials. ANALYTICS • Total videos, total and average duration, hours left to watch, number of channels, unavailable count • Charts for watch progress, publish age and duration • Top channels by number of videos and by total time, plus the oldest and longest videos • Export your list as CSV or JSON PRIVATE BY DESIGN • No account, no sign-up, no analytics or tracking, no remote code. • Your list is processed in your browser. The only network requests go to youtube.com itself, using the session you're already signed in with. • Settings are saved in Chrome's extension storage (synced by Chrome if you use Chrome Sync). • Permissions: storage, and access to www.youtube.com only. HOW TO USE 1. Open your Watch Later playlist, or click "Open Watch Later" in the toolbar popup. 2. Click the "WL Cleaner" button in the bottom-right corner of the page. 3. Pick your criteria and click "Preview (dry run)". 4. Review the list, untick anything you want to keep, then click Remove and Confirm. GOOD TO KNOW • Removal is permanent on YouTube. Use the preview and the export if you might want a record. • YouTube hides unavailable videos by default. To remove them, first choose "Show unavailable videos" from the playlist's menu. • The age filter uses the publish date YouTube shows, because YouTube doesn't show when you added a video. Relative dates are understood in English, German, Spanish, French, Portuguese and Italian. • YouTube changes its pages from time to time. If something stops working, try Classic mode, and use the debug log when reporting the problem. Watch Later Cleaner is an independent project.
