Watch Glyph: Homoglyph & IDN Phishing Checker
1 rating
)Overview
Detects homoglyph and punycode look-alike domains, e.g. Cyrillic in pаypal.com, a common phishing and typosquatting trick.
Watch Glyph is a free, open-source Chrome extension that detects homoglyph attacks and IDN/punycode domain spoofing, the trick where attackers register a look-alike domain using letters from a different alphabet (like a Cyrillic "а" instead of a Latin "a") to visually impersonate a site you trust, so "pаypal.com" looks identical to "paypal.com" in your address bar. It warns you the moment a domain mixes scripts, uses an all-foreign-script look-alike, or spells out the disguised name of a well-known brand. Free, open source, available in English, Croatian, German, and French. Why install it: Homoglyph and IDN-spoofed phishing sites look identical to the real domain in your browser, nothing about the page gives it away, only the underlying Unicode does, and people are bad at spotting a single swapped character. Watch Glyph catches what your eyes can't. It works automatically: a red icon and a system notification appear the instant you land on a suspicious domain, no need to click the extension first. It names the brand a flagged domain is likely impersonating (PayPal, Google, Microsoft, banks, crypto exchanges), so the warning is actionable, not just a generic alert. Fully offline: no page content is read, no network requests, no tracking, no account.
