War Map Live puts a live conflict map in your browser toolbar. The map at warmaplive.com collects incidents from public news feeds every few minutes and places them on a world map. This extension keeps the latest of them one click away, and — the part that matters — interrupts you only about the ones you actually want to know about. WHAT YOU SEE • A quiet count in the toolbar of new incidents matching your filters • The reporter's latest round-up of the last ten incidents — play it right in the panel • The latest ten in a panel: what happened, where, how long ago • One click opens the map focused on that incident • Every one names the outlet that reported it, and links to the original WHAT YOU CONTROL • Places — six regions and every country the map tracks, in one list. Watch Ukraine, or the Middle East, or both. • Kinds of incident — drone strikes, missiles, ground combat, naval, air defence, explosions. • Words — track a city, a strait or a front line that a country filter cannot express, like Kharkiv or the Red Sea. • How much interrupts you — from critical incidents only, up to everything. Or nothing at all, with the count still running quietly in the toolbar. • Quiet hours — no alerts overnight. WHY IT DOESN'T ALERT ON EVERYTHING The map records roughly a hundred incidents a day. An extension that announced each one would be dismissed unread within a week, and then it would be worth nothing on the night it mattered. So alerts are rationed. Repeated incidents in the same place are grouped. A busy few minutes becomes one summary rather than five interruptions. There is a hard ceiling per hour. Nothing is discarded to achieve that — anything held back is rolled into the next summary, and is listed in the panel the whole time. WHAT IT DOES NOT DO It asks for three permissions: run on a timer, show notifications, save your settings. That is all. Chrome's install dialog shows one line — "Display notifications" — and nothing else. There is no warning about your data or your browsing, because nothing here asks for either. • No access to the pages you visit. There is no host permission and no content script. • No account, no sign-in, no cookies. • No analytics inside the extension. • Your filters are matched on your own computer. Which countries you follow is never sent anywhere. HONESTLY War Map Live is an aggregator, not an intelligence source. Incidents are extracted automatically by an AI model reading public news feeds, and they can be wrong, late or incomplete. The extension never adds casualty figures to an alert, though a source headline may itself mention them. Every one names the outlet that reported it, and links to the original so you can check it.
