Wakato Browser Companion
Overview
Record your screen from any page with Wakato, and let your assistant draw on, click and type in the tab you share.
The Wakato Browser Companion connects your browser to Wakato (https://wakato.io). • Record your screen from any page — click the Wakato button in Chrome's toolbar (or press Alt+Shift+R, or right-click → Record with Wakato) and the recorder appears on the page you're on: your face in a bubble you can move and resize, and one bar with what to record, your camera and microphone, and the settings. It waits until you press Record. Record the tab you're on with no share window, or a window or your whole screen. While you record, the controls float in a small window of their own — pause and continue, mute, hide your face, blur, draw, start over, delete, stop — so they never appear in the video. When you stop, your link is ready on the page. When you record a tab, the extension blurs emails, phone numbers, card numbers and keys on the page before the first frame, lets you click anything else to blur it, lets you draw on the page, and notes where you clicked (never what you typed) so a recording can become a step-by-step guide or a clickable demo. During calls it unlocks four more things: • Your assistant does it for you — on a voice call with your Wakato assistant, share a tab and ask ("fill in this form", "find the invoice from March"): the first time, you tap Allow; then it clicks, types and scrolls in that tab while you watch. It never types passwords or card numbers — you do. Ask it to open a page in a new tab and it does; it works there once you share that tab. • It shows you where — while it explains, your assistant circles, underlines or points at things on the tab you share, like a teacher's marker. • Remote control — a teammate or guest asks for control of the tab you're sharing; you approve, and they can click, type and scroll in it while everyone watches. One click takes control back. • Click-through — interact with your own shared tab directly from the meeting preview, without switching tabs. During a call the extension only ever acts on one tab: the browser tab you chose to share. If you share a window or your whole screen, nothing can be controlled. Every control session starts with your explicit approval, and stopping the share or revoking control disconnects it instantly. Every click is shown on screen as an orange ripple, so there is never invisible activity. The extension has no analytics or telemetry. Its only network requests carry your own recordings to your Wakato account, signed in with your Wakato sign-in (which the Wakato site hands it and which is forgotten when Chrome closes). It stores your recorder settings on this computer, and which tab is being shared or recorded. Requires a free Wakato account to be useful.
