WA Voice Transcribe Turn WhatsApp voice messages into text with one click. WA Voice Transcribe adds a “Transcribe” action directly to voice notes on WhatsApp Web and displays the transcript inside the same message bubble. No popups, no separate apps, no automatic transcription. Just click when you need it. WHY USE IT Voice messages are convenient to send, but not always convenient to listen to. WA Voice Transcribe makes them easier to: • Read when you cannot play audio • Search and scan quickly • Copy important information • Revisit without listening again • Use in quiet or work environments HOW IT WORKS When you choose to transcribe a voice message, the extension reads the already-decrypted audio available in WhatsApp Web and sends it directly to the transcription provider you configured. The result is displayed inside the WhatsApp message bubble. Nothing is transcribed automatically. No audio file is written to disk. The extension does not send transcription requests to WhatsApp servers. USE YOUR OWN AI PROVIDER WA Voice Transcribe follows a Bring Your Own Key (BYOK) model. You can use: • Groq • OpenAI • OpenRouter • Any compatible OpenAI Audio Transcription API endpoint • A transcription server running locally on your own computer Each provider keeps its own configuration and API key, so you can switch between providers without losing the others. If you use a local endpoint, your audio can remain entirely on your own machine. YOUR API KEY, YOUR CONTROL You provide your own API key. Your key is stored locally on your computer and is only sent to the provider you selected when required to make the transcription request. Audio is sent directly from your browser to the transcription provider you configured. If you choose a local transcription endpoint, the audio does not need to leave your computer. Transcripts are stored locally in your browser so they can be reopened without making another transcription request. You can clear stored transcripts at any time from the extension options.
