WA Private Mode is an independent browser extension that blurs sensitive content on WhatsApp Web with a single click — so you decide what people standing near your screen can see. Not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to WhatsApp LLC or Meta Platforms, Inc. "WhatsApp" is a trademark of its respective owner. This is an unofficial, community-built add-on that works alongside the official WhatsApp Web site. Every feature below is a simple on/off toggle, and blurred content un-blurs the instant you hover over it — turn on only what you need. PRIVACY FEATURES Contacts & Chat List • Blur contact photos — hides profile pictures across the sidebar and conversation header • Blur contact names — hides names in the chat list and conversation header • Blur recent messages — hides the message preview text in your chat list Inside a Conversation • Blur messages & media — blurs all messages, images, and GIFs in an open conversation until you hover over them to reveal • Blur message input — hides the text you're typing in the message composer from onlookers Security • Screen Lock — protect WhatsApp Web with a 4-digit PIN; lock instantly with Ctrl+Shift+L (Cmd+Shift+L on Mac) THEME SUPPORT • Light Theme — clean, minimal interface for bright environments • Dark Theme — comfortable design for low-light viewing • Auto Theme — automatically matches your system preferences HOW IT WORKS Everything runs locally in your own browser tab. WA Private Mode does not create an account, does not send your messages anywhere, and does not operate its own server. Your toggle choices are stored using Chrome's built-in sync storage so your settings follow you between your own signed-in Chrome profiles — nothing is transmitted to us or to any third party.
