Voicly - Free Voice to Text
Overview
Dictate, notes, focus stats, selection bubble, site limits, PIN lock, audio tools, and bookmarks.
Speak instead of type. Stay in the tab you’re already in. Voicly is a free Chrome side panel for voice-to-text, light notes and tasks, page tools, and a simple focus view. Install it, open a normal webpage, click the mic (or press Alt+Shift+V), and your words land in the field you were typing. No Voicly account. Nothing to unlock before you dictate. ──────────────── What you can do ──────────────── DICTATE • Speak into Gmail, Docs, Notion, ChatGPT, forms, and most editable fields • Side panel mic, floating page widget, or Alt+Shift+V • Smart format for cleaner sentences • Clear Ready / Recording status • Multiple languages (including English US/UK, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Hindi, and more) CAPTURE WITHOUT LEAVING THE PAGE • Notes: title + body, search, edit, all stored in this browser • Highlight text → add to a note or read it aloud • Right-click image, video, or audio → save media into a note • Tasks under Focus: add, complete, filter Open / Done / All STAY ORGANIZED • Marks: your Chrome bookmarks, reachable from the side panel • Focus: dictations, notes, tasks, site-time snapshot, and Pomodoro sessions • Audio: mute (with restore), volume up to 200% boost where the site allows, and a simple equalizer • Optional site limits and a PIN lock when you want notes and settings private ──────────────── Why people use it ──────────────── • Write emails and tickets faster by talking • Capture ideas the moment they show up on a page • Keep a tiny checklist next to the work, not in another app • Prefer free speech-to-text without installing a heavy desktop suite first ──────────────── Privacy, plainly ──────────────── • Notes, tasks, and settings stay in this browser (chrome.storage) • Voicly does not run a cloud inbox for your transcripts • Dictation uses the browser Web Speech API. Recognition is handled by Chrome / your OS, not by a Voicly speech server • If analytics run, they are anonymous event names only, never note text, task text, or audio ──────────────── How to start (30 seconds) ──────────────── 1. Pin Voicly and open the side panel 2. Click into a text field on any http/https page 3. Press Alt+Shift+V or tap Start dictating 4. Pause, and text appears at the caret 5. Use Notes, Focus → Tasks, Marks, or Audio when you need them Tip: leave the page widget on if you hop between tabs all day. ──────────────── Limits (honest) ──────────────── • Works best on normal websites with real text fields. Some locked apps, iframes, and chrome:// pages block injection • Boost above 100% needs Web Audio; some sites (including YouTube) only allow normal volume • Dictation needs the browser’s speech stack (online or OS-dependent). Notes and tasks still work offline once saved ──────────────── Want the full desk? ──────────────── This extension stays light on purpose: free dictation and browser productivity. Voicly Desktop adds local Whisper dictation, Snip (capture + annotate), Meeting transcripts, system-wide paste, and a deeper Focus board: https://www.humnod.com/products/voicly Extension = free, in Chrome. Desktop = full local productivity desk. ──────────────── Support ──────────────── Email: admin@humnod.com Privacy: https://www.humnod.com/products/voicly/privacy Terms: https://www.humnod.com/products/voicly/terms
