Overview
Control your browser just by talking to it.
Voice Actions for Chrome lets you control your Chrome/Chromium browser with your voice. It is similar to (but not affiliated with) voice actions and voice search apps available for Android and iOS, but it is the first such app available for Chrome. Features include: • Search the web with spoken queries. • Open web pages and Chrome apps just by saying their names. • Get maps or directions by saying the name of a location or destination. • Search for music by saying the name of an artist, album, or song. • No need to search through piles of tabs—just speak the title and Voice Actions will find it. • Activate hands-free—just say “OK Chrome”✴️ Permissions: • Needs access to your tabs for the “switch to ~” command • Needs access to your installed apps for the “launch ~” command - You must still enable Chrome app launching in options before the extension will search your apps • Needs access to your top sites for the “I'm feeling lucky” command **None of your browsing data is stored by the extension** Follow for updates: • facebook.com/ChromeVoiceActions • twitter.com/ChromeVoice Voice Actions for Chrome was created by Zachary Yaro and is supported in part through donations on ko-fi.com/ZMYaro and patreon.com/ZMYaro. Sorry to hear you are having issues with Voice Actions for Chrome! If you right-click the toolbar button and open “Options”, does it display any more specific warnings? Also, are you able to use your microphone in other apps without issue?

Why no Microsoft Edge support?

As the name “Voice Actions for Chrome” and the extension being in the Chrome Web Store suggest, this extension is only thoroughly tested to work in Google Chrome. You are welcome to install it in other browsers, including Microsoft Edge, however because they (Microsoft and the developers of other Chrome-extension-compatible browsers) have made changes in the past that prevented Voice Actions for Chrome working, I can't guarantee it will work or will continue to after future Edge updates.

Very good, but the 'go to website' command gives me a redirect notice.

I agree, it is frustrating when that happens. Unfortunately, that is a limitation Google enforces of its “I'm Feeling Lucky” service. You can optionally change it in the extension options to use sites you have “installed” as Chrome apps. Additionally, the next version, coming later this year, will add DuckDuckGo's “I'm Feeling Ducky” service as another alternative.
