Excellent. Don't mind the naysayers, this extension works perfectly, and is applicable for any website I wish to use it! Thanks!

One of the best extensions. I work as an English teacher. I use it all the time. The only problem I can think of is that there isn't any keyboard shortcut to quickly add new word to the list.

As an ESL instructor, I'm always looking for more tools that my students can use to help with their learning. This tool is very easy to use and is quite accessible. I find that the fill-in-the-blank/cloze answers are great for students who also want to practice their inference skills, and the availability of drag-and-drop answers is also helpful. As the other review mentions, the words selected sometimes feel a bit arbitrary, but I'm willing to overlook that for the ease of practice and acces... Show more

Hey Cindy, Thank you for the feedback! Only 3 days ago I added ‘less common’ words mode to ignore ‘boring’ words. More features to control selected words (e.g. nouns, verbs, articles) are planned. Please stay tuned! Thank you for sharing with your students! I am sure this will boost their vocabulary acquisition!

This extension works technology-wise, but isn't helpful for actually learning a language. The idea is to create an immediate fill-in-the-blank test based on some text that you chose yourself. But so what? Let's say I highlight a sentence like this: "I will go to the mall to buy a new pair of jeans." You don't get to chose which word will get blanked out - the extention might blank out "I", which isn't exciting for anyone who isn't a total beginner in a language. Also, in this example, there... Hey, Maya! Thank you for your review! The extension is in beta and there is not much documentation yet, so please let me elaborate here. Regarding replacing “I”, I can’t agree more that that’s not useful in the sentence you gave. Only 3 days ago I added ‘less common’ words mode, which ignores such words and solves this problem. Moreover, the extension works for all languages and in some languages it might be useful to quiz on pronouns (e.g. in German one can detect ‘ich’ from the verb form). Finally, the extension is not meant for 1 sentence, but rather for an entire text. In other words, one will have additional context from the rest of the text. Please note that I am developing the extension very fast and I plan to add more control over words to replace (e.g. nouns, verbs, articles) and many other features like saving words and exporting them. I would love to make the extension better for you as well, so please provide your feedback and ideas at https://vocabboost.online/feedback. I also agree that VocabBoost is not a replacement for Anki. However, it has its own benefits. E.g. I can create quizzes from a long text I have never seen before very fast (just 1 click). It also provides drag&drop mode to choose possible words out of the list. Furthermore many people on Reddit mentioned that VocabBoost helps them to read actively (i.e. pay attention to the context, grammar). Thank you again for the review! Without feedback like this, I wouldn’t be able to improve the extension! I hope that all the new features will help you in your language learning endeavors and I wish you good luck!

This extension is awesome! I just highlight the text that I want to practice and right-click to "make a test", and BOOM I have a beautiful fill-in-the-blank practice quiz that I can type my answers into, or even click "show options" and drag-and-drop words from the pre-made word bank. It's nice to see my correct answers in green, and the wrong ones in read. This is awesome practice for learning a language or using it to quiz myself on texts for comprehension! From a busy college student: Than... Show more
