VideoNote Pro is a side-panel workspace for taking notes while watching online videos. Capture a useful moment, organize it with optional AI assistance, and save Markdown notes and media directly to a local folder or Obsidian Vault you choose. CAPTURE WHAT MATTERS Add playback timestamps where the video player supports them. Capture a video frame or a selected screen area, record a short clip, and transcribe short audio segments when needed. Capture and timestamp features depend on the website, player and browser permissions. AI-ASSISTED NOTES Generate a note for the current segment or start Continuous AI for a longer viewing session. VideoNote Pro can use available subtitles, audio transcription, existing note context and captured images. Before one-time AI generation, you can review the source material; afterward, you can edit the Markdown result before inserting it. Continuous AI stops at the segment limit you set. Mermaid diagrams are generated only when they help explain the content. A LIBRARY YOU CAN RETURN TO Keep multiple notes for the same video and return to the last saved state of each note. Search and filter notes by recent activity, completion status or Trash. Removing a note from Recent keeps its local file; deleting a local note moves it to VideoNote Trash so it can be restored. The library also shows each note’s date and source platform. LOCAL MARKDOWN OUTPUT Choose an Obsidian Vault or another local folder for your notes and attachments. Save in Obsidian Markdown or standard Markdown, with separate folder and naming options for media. If the selected folder is inside an Obsidian Vault, opening a note from VideoNote Pro uses the currently active Obsidian Vault. SUPPORTED PAGES VideoNote Pro works with YouTube, Bilibili, Xiaohongshu, TikTok and Douyin. On other video websites, click the extension icon to grant temporary access to the current tab. General pages may support the page title, visible-page capture and tab audio, while direct video-frame capture and exact playback timestamps depend on the site’s player. YOUR AI PROVIDER, YOUR KEY Optional AI note generation supports DeepSeek, OpenAI, Qwen through Alibaba Cloud Model Studio, Google Gemini and Zhipu GLM. Audio transcription supports Qwen and Gemini. You provide your own API keys. For new installations, keys are kept only for the browser session by default; optional long-term storage in the browser profile is not encrypted. PRIVACY AND LIMITATIONS No VideoNote Pro account is required in this version. Notes, screenshots and recordings are written to the folder you select. When you use AI—or start a Continuous AI session—relevant content is sent over HTTPS to your selected provider or configured endpoint. This version does not route AI requests through a VideoNote server and does not include advertising or analytics. Protected, DRM-controlled and cross-origin players may restrict frame capture, recording or timestamp access. VideoNote Pro uses the capabilities the browser makes available on each page. The interface is available in English, Simplified Chinese, Japanese, Korean and Arabic, with light and dark themes.
