Get the transcript of any YouTube video, then read it beside the video, search it, ask it questions and keep the lines that matter. It also works on a whole playlist. Free, no account, and your transcripts stay in your browser. HOW IT WORKS Open a YouTube video and press the red Transcript button on the page. The extension reads the transcript YouTube already shows you and opens a panel with what you can do next. CHOOSE WHAT YOU WANT Pick one of five: the full transcript, a video summary, key points and takeaways, a draft blog post, or timestamp chapters. Then download it in whichever file suits the job (plain text, subtitle files, notes for a notes app, or a spreadsheet), copy it, or copy it together with a ready-made prompt to paste into ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini. WRITTEN ON YOUR DEVICE The summary, key points, blog draft and chapters are written by Chrome's own built-in AI, on your device. The transcript is not sent anywhere. What you edit in the box is what you download or copy. This needs Chrome 138 or newer and a device that can run it; if yours cannot, the panel says so and the copy-for-AI option still works. WORK WITH IT Read: the transcript as a list beside the video. Click a time and the video jumps there, and the line being said stays marked. Search: every matching line, highlighted. Ask: type a question and get an answer from the closest lines, with their times. Translate: the whole transcript into 15 languages, on your device. Quotes: save any line with a link to that moment, then turn your quotes into a timestamped comment that you post yourself, chapters for your own video, or notes. Library: keep videos in your browser and search across everything you kept. EVERY VIDEO IN A LIST Open a playlist, your Watch Later or a channel's Videos tab and press All transcripts. The extension walks the list in your own tab, about six to ten seconds a video, up to 100 videos a run. You can stop at any time and keep what it has collected, download one file or a zip with a file per video, and search across all of it. PRIVATE BY DESIGN No account and no sign-in. Your transcripts, quotes and library never leave your browser. The only thing sent to us is an anonymous daily count of which buttons were used and whether transcripts loaded, so we can tell when YouTube changes something and the tool breaks. It never includes the video, the transcript, your quotes or anything about you, and a switch in the popup turns it off. On any video that has captions, which is most of YouTube. If there are none, it says so. Is it free? Yes, with no account. Does it use YouTube's API? No. It reads the transcript panel YouTube shows on the page; it needs no key. In bulk mode it visits the videos in your own tab, where you can watch it and stop it. Does it post comments for me? Never. It can put a draft into YouTube's comment box when you press a button; you read it and press Comment yourself. Where are my saved quotes? In this browser's extension storage only.
