video2webxr
Overview
Watch YouTube 360°/VR180 videos and videos on other sites in your PC VR headset via WebXR
video2webxr plays web videos in your PC VR headset through WebXR. On YouTube A cardboard icon appears in the player. Click it, pick the projection, and click Enter VR to watch 360°, VR180 and 3D videos in your headset. On other sites Start the video, click the video2webxr button in the toolbar, pick the projection and click Enter VR, then click the video. The page itself gets no extra controls, so video lightboxes and overlays keep working. Projections - 360°: EAC (how YouTube serves 360° videos), equirectangular and cubemap, mono and 3D - 180°: mono and 3D side by side - Flat screen: normal videos on a virtual screen in front of you You can switch the projection while in VR. Limitations DRM-protected videos (Netflix, Prime Video, Disney+ and similar) can't be shown, because the browser doesn't allow it. Some sites serve videos in a way that can't be read by WebGL; the extension tells you when that's the case. WebXR is currently unavailable in Chrome on Linux.
