Video Stats
1 rating
)Overview
Overlays real-time technical playback stats (resolution, fps, dropped frames, codec, bitrate, etc.) on every video.
Video Stats overlays real-time technical playback diagnostics directly on top of any video on any webpage — resolution, live frame rate, dropped frames, buffered ranges, codec, bitrate, and more — no DevTools tab required. FEATURES - Works on any standard video element on any site, with extra detail pulled from YouTube's own player (selected quality, available qualities, video title, loaded fraction). - Live stats: decoded resolution vs. coded frame size vs. on-screen CSS size, a measured frame rate (based on actually presented frames, not a duration-based guess), current time/duration, playback rate, volume, readyState/networkState, buffered ranges and seconds of buffer ahead of the playhead, and total/dropped/corrupted frame counts. - Codec & bitrate: for sites that stream via Media Source Extensions (most streaming platforms), see the real video/audio codec — simplified to plain names like H.264, VP9, or AAC instead of raw codec tags — plus a live bitrate that auto-formats as kbps or Mbps depending on stream size. - Fully customizable panel: drag to reposition it anywhere on screen, resize it freely, choose exactly which fields are shown and drag to reorder them, pick a font (monospace, sans-serif, or serif) and text size, and switch between dark and light themes. - Starts minimized by default so it stays out of your way — click the badge to expand full details, click again to collapse. - Settings sync automatically across every open tab and persist across browser restarts. PRIVACY Video Stats doesn't collect anything. It only reads playback information already available in your own browser, stores your display preferences locally through Chrome's built-in storage API, and never sends data anywhere. No network requests to any server, no analytics, no accounts, no tracking. PERMISSIONS - storage — remembers your display settings (theme, font, which fields are visible, and their order) across tabs and sessions. - Access on all sites — needed because video can appear on any webpage; the overlay only activates on pages that actually contain a video element and is otherwise inert. Useful for developers debugging playback issues, QA testing stream quality, or anyone who wants to see what's actually happening technically in the video they're watching.
