Video Quality Settings for YouTube™ is a browser extension that sets the preferred quality of YouTube™ videos, and remembers your video quality settings between sessions. Works for a very short period after putting to 1080, but after a video or two they open in 720 instead, check the extension and it's been switched from 1080 to auto, keeps doing that, so simply doesn't work as intended.
