Video Encoding Format Blocker
Overview
Disable selected video codec capability reporting on user-selected websites.
If your device experiences a spike in CPU usage while playing videos, try this extension! When your GPU doesn’t support the hardware decoding format used by videos on a website, the CPU will handle the decoding via software, resulting in high CPU usage and overheating. This is a common issue with outdated laptop or desktop hardware, especially since mainstream streaming services now use AV1 decoding by default, leaving older devices struggling to keep up. This extension attempts to involve the GPU in the decoding process by disabling the hardware decoding formats you specify, and allows you to customize which websites to disable decoding for. ※Note※ Upon first activation, you may need to manually select “Save and Re-register” from the menu.
