CastBrowser is a video downloader and cast-to-TV extension for the Chrome tab you are viewing. It finds direct MP4 and WebM files plus HLS and M3U8 playlists, then shows what you can do with each one. HOW TO USE 1. Open a page containing video. Start playback if nothing is found yet. 2. Look for the numbered badge on the CastBrowser icon. 3. Open the extension to see what was found in that tab. 4. Choose Cast, Play or Download. 5. For TV playback, keep your computer and your Google Cast receiver on the same Wi-Fi network. ABOUT HLS AND M3U8 DOWNLOADS Adaptive streams arrive as hundreds of separate segments, so they cannot be written to disk as one file the way an MP4 can. When you choose Download on an HLS or M3U8 result, CastBrowser opens its downloader at castbrowser.tv/download in a new tab. That page fetches the segments, assembles a single MP4 locally in your browser, and saves it to disk. Your video travels from the host site directly to your browser and is never uploaded to or stored by CastBrowser. Keep the tab open until the file is ready. Direct MP4 and WebM files are saved by the extension itself, with no converter step. WHAT IT CANNOT DO CastBrowser cannot reach every video. DRM-protected content, paywalled or sign-in-only streams, blob URLs and sites that restrict access may be unavailable. YouTube and DRM-protected services are not supported, and CastBrowser does not bypass DRM, paywalls, logins or website restrictions. Use CastBrowser only with content you own or have permission to access, save or stream. CastBrowser does not host or provide content. Results depend on the source website, the format, your browser permissions, your network and the receiving device. PRIVACY Detection and the results list are processed locally in Chrome. Direct saves use Chrome Downloads. Stream conversion runs in a CastBrowser page in your own browser, and TV casting uses a CastBrowser sender page to reach Google Cast receivers.
