Share YouTube videos with friends, without the link getting lost in a chat. When a friend recommends you a video, it appears right at the top of your YouTube homepage, above your normal feed, labelled with who suggested it. No notification to swipe away, no message thread to scroll back through. It waits for you where you already are. HOW IT WORKS 1. Both of you install vid2friend and add each other with an eight character friend code or a personal invite link. 2. On any YouTube page, open the three dot menu on a video and choose "Share with friends", or use the "Share with friends" button on the watch page next to Like. 3. Pick who gets it, optionally add a short note, and send. 4. It shows up on their YouTube homepage. Once they have watched it, it disappears from the row and you can see that they saw it. A FAIR QUEUE, NOT AN INBOX Your homepage row holds six recommendations by default, adjustable between three and eight. If more are waiting, they queue up behind them and move in as you watch. The row is filled round robin across your friends, so one person sending fifteen videos cannot take every slot. You can reorder your own queue for each friend by dragging, so the one you really want them to see goes first. Videos count as watched automatically after 60% or three continuous minutes, whichever comes first, so a long stream and a short clip both behave sensibly. Unwatched recommendations expire after 30 days by default. WHAT IT DOES NOT DO vid2friend adds two rows above your feed and nothing else. It does not remove, reorder or replace anything YouTube shows you. It has no algorithm, no ranking and no ads. If nobody has sent you anything, your homepage looks exactly as it always does. Dark mode is supported. Note that your friends need the extension too. It is a tool for a small circle, not a broadcast channel. PRIVACY No email address, no password, no account signup. Sign in happens anonymously in the background; all you choose is a display name your friends will see. Stored: your display name, your friend code, your friend list, and for each video you actively share, its YouTube ID, title, channel and length plus any note you write. Not stored: your browsing history, your watch history, or anything about videos you did not choose to share. No analytics, no tracking, no third parties.
