Overview
Your new tab, made yours: your words on a colour wall, with your calendar, notes, to-dos, focus timer and sites one click away.
VeryWWW turns Chrome's new tab into a page that's yours: your own words, big, on a colour wall you choose, with your calendar, to-dos, notes and favourite sites one click away. THE CANVAS • Write anything as your headline, in Grotesk, Serif or Halftone dots. • 24 walls in eight colour families, each in Light, Bright and Night, as a flat colour or a photograph of the same sculpted plaster wall. Night colours can switch to the darker wall after sunset where you are. • Twelve layouts you choose: Headline, Clock, Focus, Week, Countdown, Quiet, Write, World, Read, Browser, Listening and Calendar. Your selected layout stays put while you work. • Drag shortcuts into your preferred order. Right-click shortcuts, notes, tasks, prompts and saved Shelf items for relevant actions, with keyboard alternatives too. • Shortcut tiles for your calendar, to-dos, notes, weather, timers, countdowns, habits, world clocks and more, and a row of your own sites with their real icons: drag them into any order, right-click one to edit it. THE SHELF AND AIM TO FILE • Keep links, places, file paths and notes in folders of your own, each with its colour and mark. Search one folder or all of them, filter by type and sort by name or date, from the Shelf, the command bar, the Dashboard or the side panel. • Aim to file: point at anything on a page (a paragraph, a picture, a product, a post, an email) and click to file it into a folder, with the details that matter and an optional picture when the privacy checks allow one. Shift-click to collect several; one Undo takes them all back. • A quote you file comes back with a link that opens the page at that passage. THE DASHBOARD Scroll down for your calendar (month view, today's agenda and .ics files or calendar subscriptions from Google, Outlook and iCloud), to-dos with Today's priorities, notes, weather, the Shelf, and Now playing for Spotify's web player. EVERY DAY • A focus timer that keeps one countdown across the new tab, the side panel and the floating window, with a daily target and an optional end chime. • A command bar (Ctrl+K, or ⌘K on a Mac) that finds your tools, notes, to-dos, Shelf and settings, and answers sums, conversions and time zones. • Recent launches, submitted search text and command choices stay on this device to power Continue where you left off and improve local command ranking. Turn off "Keep a local history of launches" to clear them. • Export saved content and Restore from backup let you keep a private local backup of your data. Backup files can contain personal information; keep them private. • A side panel (Alt+X) and a floating window that keep the same things beside any page. BESIDE ANY PAGE • Summarise this page, or rewrite a selection with one of your prompts, using Chrome's built-in AI on your computer. • Dim or undim a page, or open a link, page or tab in a private window, from the right-click menu or a shortcut. • Desks: save a set of tabs and open it alongside what you have, without closing anything. Tile two or three windows side by side. • Type b and a space in the address bar to search your tools, links, desks and prompts. PRIVACY VeryWWW keeps your things in your browser. There's no VeryWWW account, server, analytics or advertising, and nothing is sent to us. A few features talk to other services, and only when you use them: • Search and prompts: text you submit goes to the search engine or tool you choose. • Weather: the city you pick goes to Open-Meteo for the forecast. • Calendars you subscribe to are read straight from Google, Microsoft or Apple. • Site icons: for a site VeryWWW carries no icon for, only its name (like example.com) goes to Google's icon service, never a page or an address on your own network. Turn off "Use site icons" to stop it. • Now playing works with Spotify's web player in your own tab. • Sync is off until you turn it on; then your tools, prompts and settings travel with your Chrome account. Full policy: https://www.verywww.com/privacy/extension/ PERMISSIONS VeryWWW asks for extra access only when you turn on the feature that needs it: your open tabs, recently closed tabs, most visited sites, downloads, bookmarks, notifications, the clipboard once, your screens for tiling, a calendar address, or a site you choose to capture from. VeryWWW isn't affiliated with the sites and services it links to. Their names and icons are shortcuts you can change or remove.
