VerityRead
Overview
Local AI reading assistant for accurate summaries, page questions, and translation—with privacy built in.
VerityRead is a local AI reading assistant for Chrome. Summarize the current page, identify key points, ask grounded questions, explain selected text, and create bilingual translations without sending page content to a cloud inference service. Choose Chrome Built-in AI or your own Ollama model at 127.0.0.1:11434. The active Provider is always visible and VerityRead never silently switches Providers. Privacy is part of the product: - The current tab is read only after you start a page action. - Page content, prompts, and AI replies are processed on your device. - Summary caching and local history are off by default. - Persistent website access is optional and granted one exact site at a time. - A privacy receipt explains the Provider, inference location, and storage behavior for each task. Model or language-pack downloads and Chrome extension updates may use the network, but page content is not included in those requests. VerityRead has no account, analytics, advertising, or developer-operated inference server.
