Pseudonymise sensitive data in PDFs locally before you use them in Vera, IamVERA's AI verification console. You review the prepared text and only what you approve is sent. The original file stays on your device. Vera X-Ray prepares confidential documents for AI on your device. It looks for sensitive values, lets you review them and replaces what you approve with opaque tokens. Only the text you approve is sent to Vera; the original file stays on your device. **How it works** 1. Open a PDF, TXT or Markdown file in X-Ray. Text is extracted locally; scanned pages can be read with local OCR. 2. X-Ray looks for names, addresses, organisations, contact details, identifiers, financial details and secrets, using rules and validators first. An optional recognition model that runs on your device can add person, organisation and city findings. 3. Review the findings. Mark additional text, or keep a value when disclosure is intentional. 4. Approved values are replaced with document-bound tokens. Supported secrets such as passwords and keys are removed instead. 5. Confirm the prepared text. Delivery to Vera stays blocked until you do. 6. After Vera responds, authorised values can be restored on your device. **What is transmitted** - The original file and the mapping between tokens and real values stay on your device. The mapping is stored encrypted and can be protected with a PIN. - The text you approve is sent to Vera and, within your Vera session, to the external AI providers selected there. Values you choose to keep are sent as they are. - If you install the optional recognition model, its files are downloaded and checked against pinned SHA-256 digests. Document text is not sent to the model host. **Limits** - Detection is not perfect. Indirectly identifying details can remain and OCR can misread text, so your review stays part of the workflow. - This is pseudonymisation, not anonymisation: authorised values can be restored from the local mapping, and restored values are sensitive again. - X-Ray controls what AI sees. It does not verify what AI says; that is Vera's part of the workflow. **Requirements** - A Vera account. A free Starter plan is available; larger plans are paid. - Detection rules cover Dutch and English documents. X-Ray is a development preview. More at [iamvera.ai/x-ray](https://iamvera.ai/x-ray/).
