Overview

Lets a signed-in VDS tab ask your browser to read a page you are already logged into. No passwords or cookies are shared with VDS.

VDS Browser Bridge lets the VDS agent read web pages you are already signed into (internal dashboards, SaaS reports, intranet pages) using your own browser, without you ever giving VDS your passwords, cookies or session tokens. This extension works only together with a VDS account. It does nothing until you connect it to a VDS workspace. HOW IT WORKS 1. Install the extension, open the Browser connector page in VDS and click "Connect this browser". Confirm the connection in the extension's window and in Chrome's permission prompt. 2. When a VDS agent needs a page, it asks you on a card in the conversation. Nothing is read until you approve it there. 3. The extension reads the page in your browser and sends its visible text to the VDS workspace you connected. Only the person who started the conversation can approve and complete a read. WHAT IT CAN DO - Open a web address in a new tab and read its visible text. - Show the agent a list of your open tabs (titles and addresses) so it can pick the right one. Sensitive values in addresses, such as tokens, session IDs and passwords, are replaced with "[redacted]" before they leave your browser. Incognito tabs, browser pages and VDS itself are never listed. - Read the current content of a tab you have already opened and prepared (filters, search results, expanded sections) without reloading, navigating or closing it. - Ask you again before continuing if a page redirects to a different website. WHAT IS SENT, AND WHAT IS NOT Sent only to the VDS workspace you connected: the page's visible text (up to 50,000 characters), its title and its address. Never read or sent: passwords, cookies, values you typed into forms, or hidden page content. YOU STAY IN CONTROL - Site access: when connecting, choose "All sites" (approve each read in VDS) or "Per site" (grant each website separately in the extension). Change this at any time in the extension options. - Connected workspaces: see and disconnect any VDS workspace in the extension options. - Read log: the options page lists your last 200 reads (time, workspace, address without query string, result). Page content is never stored in the log, and you can clear it at any time. PERMISSIONS - Access to websites (optional, requested only when you connect or grant a site): needed to read the visible text of pages you approve. Chrome describes this as "read and change"; the extension only reads. - Scripting: to extract the visible text of an approved page. - Storage: to keep your connected workspaces, site settings and read log locally in your browser. - Alarms: to clear expired, unfinished read requests.
