Make every new tab a place to write, collect ideas, and focus on what comes next. Vault NewTab is a local-first Markdown workspace with a daily dashboard. Keep your notes, research, and daily tasks together without creating an account. Start with browser storage, or connect a folder of Markdown files on your computer. WRITE THE WAY YOU THINK Choose Live editing for formatted writing, Split view for source and preview side by side, or Source mode for direct Markdown control. Use the toolbar, selection menu, or slash commands to shape your notes. Add tables and checklists, highlight important passages, and organize ideas with headings and callouts. Code and copyable prompt blocks keep reusable snippets close at hand. Paste text, tables, links, or images and continue writing on a new line automatically. Resize images, edit links, and use media cards for supported URLs. Click the space beside an image or table to continue below it. Undo and redo help you revise with confidence. WRITE ACROSS LANGUAGES Mix Arabic and English in the same note with automatic paragraph direction. Override text direction and alignment when you need to. Choose an English or Arabic interface, adjust your font and line spacing, and switch between dark and light themes with your preferred accent color. A DASHBOARD FOR YOUR WORKDAY See the time and date, capture daily to-dos, and start a focus session from one place. Choose a preset or set your own focus and break lengths. Pause, resume, or use continuous sessions, and see your completed focus sessions for the day. Build your own ambient sound mix with individual sound levels and a master volume. Optional weather, selected news topics, custom RSS feeds, and cryptocurrency price cards add context to your workspace. News has its own scroll area and pagination, so longer feeds keep the dashboard compact. These online features are optional; your local writing tools remain available offline. COLLECT RESEARCH WHILE YOU BROWSE Use Chrome's right-click menu to save a selected passage, bookmark a page as a note, or capture an image reference. Source links and available page context stay with your clipping so you can return to the original. Open the captured note and keep editing it in your workspace. KEEP YOUR NOTES ORGANIZED Work across multiple note tabs, pin useful notes, and organize your library with folders and tags. Search titles and note content, customize note icons and colors, and duplicate notes for a fresh starting point. Schedule note reminders through Chrome notifications and restore deleted notes from the trash. LOCAL FILES AND PORTABLE BACKUPS Connect a folder you choose to read and write Markdown files directly, including nested folders. Work with standard Markdown files compatible with apps like Obsidian, and connect an existing local vault to keep your notes available in both apps. Export individual notes as Markdown, or export and import JSON backups. No account or cloud subscription is required. WHAT'S NEW IN VERSION 1.2.0 This update brings the expanded dashboard together with smoother pasting, easier cursor placement around rich content, and readable image-note titles. It also improves formatting, local saving, nested-folder handling, timer state, and sound controls, with updated themes and responsive layouts. PRIVACY AND ONLINE CONTENT Notes and workspace settings are stored locally. Connecting a folder requires your permission. Optional feeds, weather, price data, ambient audio streams, external images, and media use third-party services and require a connection. Availability depends on those providers, and some media opens on its original website. Vault NewTab does not require an account or include tracking analytics.
