Vantload Downloader is a free, personal download manager for Windows. This extension connects your browser to the desktop app so downloads and videos can be sent there instead of using Chrome's built-in downloader. WHAT IT DOES • Detects file downloads you start in Chrome and hands them to Vantload Downloader, which adds them to its queue with segmented, resumable downloading. • Adds a small "Download this video" button over videos you're actually watching — not previews or thumbnails — letting you send the video straight to Vantload Downloader. On sites where the video isn't a direct file (most major video and social sites), it hands off the page link instead so the app can resolve the real video. • Lets you pick a resolution and file format (MP4 or MKV) before the video downloads, when available. • Always shows a confirmation in the Vantload Downloader app before anything downloads — you choose Start Download or Cancel. REQUIREMENTS This extension requires the free Vantload Downloader desktop app for Windows to be installed and running on your computer. Without it, the extension does not download or store anything itself — it only hands off the URL to the app. WHY THE PERMISSIONS • downloads — to detect a download and, once you confirm it in Vantload Downloader, hand it off instead of using Chrome's own downloader. • nativeMessaging — to communicate with the Vantload Downloader app installed on your computer. This is the only channel the extension uses; nothing is sent anywhere else. • storage — to remember whether you've turned the extension on or off, locally in your browser. • Access to all sites (host permissions) — the "Download this video" button needs to detect and read videos on whatever page you're on, since videos can appear on any site, not a fixed list. Nothing is read or sent unless you click the button yourself.
