Overview

Fills job-application forms with your saved profile. It does not submit unless you turn on Auto-Submit, which you can cancel.

Vantage Role — Auto-Fill puts the answers you have already written into the job-application forms that keep asking for them again. You save your details once in the Vantage Role web application. On a supported application page, this extension fills in the fields it recognises — name, email, phone, LinkedIn, current company and title, address, years of experience — and, where a form asks for them one by one, your past roles and degrees from your career profile. Where the web application has written a résumé or cover letter for that job, it attaches them to the form's own résumé and cover-letter fields. You spend your attention on the questions that actually need you. WHAT IT DOES NOT DO It does not submit your application, unless you deliberately turn on Auto-Submit Mode in the web application. That setting is off until you switch it on, and switching it on in one browser does not switch it on anywhere else. If you do turn it on, the extension still refuses to submit whenever anything is unresolved. It checks, every time, that no field you have an answer for was left unplaced, that no field still needs a keystroke it cannot produce, that a required résumé or cover letter is actually attached, that no AI-drafted answer is still waiting for you to read it, that no custom question is unanswered, and that no required dropdown exists that it cannot read. Any one of those stops the submission and tells you which one, in plain words. Only if every check passes does it show a countdown banner on your screen with a Cancel button — and only if that countdown finishes untouched does it click Submit. The popup's own buttons never submit anything. It does not fill in voluntary demographic or equal-opportunity questions — gender, race, disability, veteran status. Those are yours to answer or to leave blank. It does not guess at legal questions. Work authorisation and sponsorship are filled only from an answer you typed yourself for that exact question, matched exactly. A confidently wrong answer about your right to work is worse for you than an empty field. It does not answer skill-specific experience questions from your overall career total. "How many years with Python" is not the same question as "how many years of experience". It does not invent dates or choices. A date is never given a month your record does not hold, and a dropdown is set only when exactly one option matches your answer. It never runs on LinkedIn. IT SENDS NOTHING OVER THE NETWORK This extension contains no networking code at all. There is no analytics, no tracking, no error reporting, and no server of its own to call. Your details are held in your browser's own local storage on this machine, and are not copied into your Google account. The one thing it exchanges anything with is the Vantage Role web application, browser to browser on your own machine. The application hands it the profile to fill with. The application can also read back two things, only when you use the feature that asks for them: the record of its automatic submissions (each with the page's address, what happened and when), when you sync your submission history; and the text of questions a form asked that you have not answered yet, when you ask it to draft those answers. Those then reach Vantage Role's servers. The privacy policy sets out exactly what, and when. WHERE IT WORKS It runs automatically on the application pages of twelve widely used applicant-tracking systems, the software employers use to collect job applications. Large employers often serve those same systems, or their own forms, from their own web address, where the extension has no permission to run. When you are on a page like that, the popup offers to fill it once, or to let you grant permission for that one site so it works by itself next time. You are asked each time, for one site at a time, and you can withdraw it in Chrome's own settings. WHAT IT IS HONEST ABOUT It fills the fields your profile can answer. It does not fill an entire application: availability and the screening questions written by that one employer are left to you. Some dropdown menus are invisible to it. Certain platforms build a dropdown out of a button rather than a standard menu, and nothing the extension can do will see inside one. When one of those is required and unanswered, the extension tells you and refuses to submit past it. When it cannot find a field, it says so rather than quietly reporting success. The popup's "Check what's still missing" button reads the page and lists what is left, so you find out before you send the application rather than after. You need a Vantage Role account for the extension to have anything to fill with. It does nothing on its own.
