You can buy a USB Recovery drive on line for some $20... I bb ought it on ETSY and works excelent. Or you can download it and put on empty USB drive (around 16 GB capacity) I recommend to have this Recovery Drive and REALY make your Chromebook back to factory shape. Back up your bookmarks and screen picture you like. on separate USB stick.

Most reliable way to erase/repair USB device if there's no Linux around, even if Windows can't find your damn USB stick. - Start App --> Click the gear in the top right --> Erase recovery media Does the two jobs it's build for well.

had brand new 128gb usb stick - wouldn't unpack files saying check enough space! not impressed

Broke my usb stick it just gives me an error(I know windows doesn't recoginise the linux file system so I correctly cleaned the drive and repartitioned it but it still doesn't work)

This Utility worked fine for me, but it bricked my very expensive USB drive. I would NOT recommend using this.
