UseTime
Overview
The thing you were in the middle of, at the place you left it. A new tab with one thread and one Continue, instead of a feed.
You open a new tab while a build runs or a page loads, and two minutes go to a feed. UseTime puts the unfinished thing you already started there instead: the video at 14:22, the article at the section you reached, the course at lesson 6. One button: Continue. It opens at the mark, not at the start. HOW IT WORKS • Catch: click the toolbar button on any page. UseTime saves the page with where you are in it: the video time, the scroll position and the sentence you were reading, or the PDF page. "Use this" puts it on your stack in one click. • Continue: every new tab shows one thing that fits the wait you have (a kettle, a queue, a commute, a laundry spin) and one button. The rest of your stack sits quietly beside it. • Automatic marks: when you save something, UseTime asks once whether it may keep the mark on that site. If you allow it, the mark stays up to date as you pause, switch away or close the tab, and you never type a timestamp. UseTime only has access to sites with something on your stack, and gives access back when you finish. • Coming back: if a page cannot tell UseTime where you got to, it asks once: "Where did you get to?". Answer in your own words, like "twenty-two minutes", "page 154" or "halfway", or tap a suggestion. Or say "didn't get to it". Ignoring it records nothing. FIVE THINGS, NEVER A FEED The stack holds five threads. Adding a sixth moves the stalest one to the inbox with its mark. A link to a home page or a feed is not accepted until you say where you are with it. PRIVATE BY DESIGN Your stack lives in your browser. UseTime stores five titles, five marks and the links that reopen them. It never stores your browsing history, what else you opened, or time spent on other sites, and it sends nothing to us. If you also use the UseTime app on a Mac, the extension can share your stack with it so your iPhone sees it too, through your own iCloud. No account. No streaks. No dashboard of how much you scrolled.
