Some "results" you see online are actually paid placements — styled to look exactly like the organic content around them. Unmasked finds them and marks them, so you always know what's paid before you click. WHAT IT DOES (FREE) • Flags sponsored/promoted results with a small, clear badge, right where they appear — search results, product listings, job boards, social feeds, and general web pages. • Works out of the box on a dozen major search engines and shopping sites, plus an optional general-purpose detector for other sites (you turn it on), using the same signals sites themselves use to mark paid placements (official "sponsored" attributes and labels) — never guesswork. • A simple daily count of what was found on the page you're viewing. WHO PAID? (FREE) • Hover a sponsored result to see the advertiser behind it (where the ad's own link reveals it), and see your most frequent advertisers over the last 30 days. • A 7-day journal of how much paid content you ran into and on which sites. • Pause Unmasked on any site with one tap. • Compare how many paid blocks the same search shows on different search engines, and save the result as an image. WHAT'S IN PRO • Detects affiliate and tracking links and names the affiliate network, the partner ID behind the link and the site it leads to. Reveal the real destination of affiliate short links. • Spot the same partner ID appearing on several sites. • Disclosure check: does the page tell readers about its affiliate links, and before the first link or after? • Bulk audit: check a list of pages for affiliate links, networks, partner IDs and disclosure, and export a CSV. • Shield Mode: hide sponsored results entirely and strip tracking parameters from links. • Export everything Unmasked has flagged to a CSV file. YOUR DATA STAYS ON YOUR DEVICE Unmasked doesn't collect, transmit, or sell your browsing data. All detection happens locally in your browser. The only network request this extension makes on its own is a license check for Pro subscribers — nothing about the pages you visit is ever sent anywhere. Features you start yourself (revealing an affiliate short link, bulk audit, comparing search engines) contact only the addresses involved, without your cookies. See the full privacy policy for details. SITE ACCESS: YOUR CHOICE Unmasked works out of the box on the search engines, shops, job boards and travel sites it knows by name. To also flag paid placements on every other site, turn on "Detect on all other sites" in the popup; Chrome then asks you once for permission. It only reads the page for the same "sponsored" markers the site itself already uses; it doesn't read anything else about you or your activity. Turn the switch off at any time and the permission is removed.
