Universal File Converter
Overview
Convert images, documents, PDFs and data files right in your browser, with offline text recognition. Nothing is uploaded.
Universal File Converter converts files right inside your browser. Your files are never uploaded to any server. FEATURES • Images: convert between the common image formats, including WebP and SVG, and open iPhone HEIC photos. Adjust quality, resize, or compress to a target file size. GPS location data (Exif) is removed from converted images. • Documents and PDF: turn a Word document into a web page, a PDF or plain text; turn a PDF into images (one per page) or into text; make a PDF from Markdown or a web page; merge several PDFs into one; split a PDF by page or by page ranges. • Data: convert between the common data formats (JSON, CSV, XML, YAML), and generate a type definition or a database table from a JSON sample. • Offline OCR: extract text from images or scanned PDFs, in Vietnamese and English, running entirely in the browser. • Plain-background removal: turn a single-colour background into a transparent PNG. Works best for product photos and logos on a plain background; it is not meant for photos with complex backgrounds. • Text watermark: stamp a line of copyright text on the images you convert in batch (off by default). • Batch conversion, with all results downloaded as one ZIP file. • Right-click any image on a web page to convert it. The file keeps the image's name. • Paste (Ctrl+V) an image or data into the extension window to convert it right away. • Optional, off by default: when you download a .webp or .jfif image, a PNG or JPG copy is saved beside it. • Interface in English and Vietnamese. PRIVACY • Everything is processed on your device. The extension does not collect or send any file or data. • No account, no ads, no tracking. • The text recogniser and all libraries are bundled with the extension. No code is loaded from outside. • The extension has no access to any website when installed. The browser asks you for access only when you use a feature that needs it: for one site when you right-click an image served from another site, and for all sites when you turn on the optional auto-convert of downloads. The access is used only to fetch the image you asked to convert. NOTES • Password-protected PDFs cannot be opened. • OCR works best on sharp images; on blurry images or unusual fonts, accents may be misread.
