)Overview
Use Unified Inbox Checker for Gmail™ to preview unread mail from multiple Gmail accounts and Outlook, with desktop alerts.
Unified Inbox Checker for Gmail™ puts new mail from Gmail and Outlook in one side panel. The badge shows your unread count. Click it to see who wrote and preview the first line without losing your place on the page. 📬 ONE INBOX FOR YOUR ACCOUNTS When you check multiple Gmail accounts, choose which ones appear in your unified inbox. Messages from multiple inboxes are grouped by account. Add Outlook or Hotmail to see incoming messages from both providers. Click a message to open it in the mailbox where it arrived and reply from that address. 📌 GET STARTED 1. Pin the email checker extension to your toolbar and click its icon. 2. Connect Gmail while signed in to your Google account in this browser profile. The Gmail checker extension can find up to six signed-in accounts. 3. Click the mailbox name at the top of the panel to choose which accounts to check. 4. To add a Microsoft mailbox to your unified inbox, select Outlook and sign in with Microsoft. 👀 PREVIEW NEW MAIL • Scan the sender, subject, time and a short excerpt in your unified inbox before opening a message. • Unread messages appear in bold. Recently read messages stay in the list in grey, so you can find a conversation you just opened. • A number beside a grouped conversation shows how many unread messages it contains. • Turn on Show sender email in Settings to see the address alongside the sender's name. 🔢 CHOOSE WHAT THE BADGE COUNTS Why might the badge show 24 when you see only a few unread messages? In Settings, “All unread” uses the count reported by your selected mailboxes. “Only listed here” counts unread entries visible in your unified inbox. 🗂️ FOLLOW ONE CATEGORY Select Primary when you're waiting for a reply, or open Promotions to catch up on offers. Social and Updates have their own tabs, too. The Gmail unread count and alerts follow your selected category. A connected Outlook mailbox appears alongside it whichever category you choose. 🔔 SET UP DESKTOP ALERTS Gmail desktop notifications show the sender and subject when the checker finds new mail. Click an individual alert to open that message. Outlook desktop notifications work the same way, so you can leave both mail tabs closed while the browser is running. ▸ Keep visual alerts on and mute the email notification sound during a meeting. ▸ Choose a check interval of 30 seconds, 1 minute, 2 minutes or 5 minutes. ▸ Try “Test notification & sound” in Settings to preview an alert. ⏰ GET A REMINDER Waiting for a reply in one inbox while you work in another? If an Outlook email notification arrives during a call, leave the message unread. “Remind while unread” can alert you again after 5, 15, 30 or 60 minutes. Once the checker sees that you've read the message, the reminders for it stop. 🔒 MAILBOX ACCESS The extension reads Google's unread-mail feed using your existing browser session. If you add a Microsoft account, it reads incoming mail through Microsoft Graph. Your settings and recent message previews stay in local browser storage. The extension connects directly to the mail providers. ❓ COMMON QUESTIONS Can I check work mail and leave my personal account signed in? Yes. Open the mailbox menu and untick your personal address. You can manage multiple Gmail accounts there and add one back to the unified inbox when you want its count and alerts again. How do I get desktop notifications for Gmail without keeping a mail tab open? Connect your mailbox, allow desktop notifications when prompted and keep the browser running. The email notifier for Gmail checks at the interval you select. Can I use the combined inbox with just one provider? Yes. Start with a Google or Microsoft mailbox. To manage multiple email accounts in one place, open the mailbox menu and choose the other provider. Can I turn off the Gmail notification sound? Yes. Switch off Notification sound in Settings. Your unified inbox still updates, and Gmail desktop notifications can stay on. Why does the badge show a question mark? Open the side panel to check the connection. If it asks you to connect a mailbox, choose your provider. If you've signed out of Google, sign back in using the same browser profile. Unified Inbox Checker for Gmail™ is an independent extension.
