Overview

See how your link will look when you share it, on ten platforms at once, and what your og: and meta tags are missing.

You paste a link into LinkedIn or WhatsApp and the wrong image shows up, or a truncated title, or nothing at all. This extension shows you beforehand what is going to happen. Click the icon and you see the page you are on previewed ten times over: the social networks, the chat apps people actually paste links into, and the Google search result. Each one applies its own fallback chain, and you see that reflected: X prefers twitter:title, Google just uses your <title>, LinkedIn drops your description entirely. Every card is cut where that platform cuts, so what you see is what survives: WhatsApp stops at about 65 characters and the card stops there too. Under it you get the full character count against that platform's limit, plus a note about its quirks. Filter to one platform and you can step through the rest with the arrows or the arrow keys. CHECKS Missing og:title or og:image. A relative path where an absolute URL is required. An image that is too small, will not load, or is too slow. og:url that disagrees with your canonical. Missing alt text. A missing lang attribute. Noindex where you did not expect it. A first sentence that runs past what the short previews show. The three counts at the top double as filters, and one button copies the findings as Markdown, so you can hand the list to whoever has to fix it. It copies what you are looking at: filter to warnings and you get the warnings. ALL METADATA Every meta tag grouped (Open Graph, Twitter, article, basic, other), every link tag, and the JSON-LD blocks, including a note when one is broken. The groups double as a filter, and one button copies what is on screen as JSON. SETTINGS A fourth tab decides what the other three show: which of the ten platforms you care about, whether errors, warnings and tips are reported, and which metadata sections appear. Anything switched off is left out of the panels, the counts and what you copy. WHAT IT DOES NOT DO No account, no server, no tracking. The only thing kept in your browser is those settings, in local storage, which never leave your device. Nothing runs on your pages: the page is read once, only when you click the icon. That is why it needs no host permissions, and why it works on staging, on localhost and behind a login. The only things it loads over the network are your own preview image and favicon, so it can measure the real size and aspect ratio. It asks for them fresh every time rather than reusing a stored copy. Otherwise it would keep reporting the dimensions of an image you had already replaced. Made by Robin Poort, front-end designer.
