Typewright – human-paced typing for Docs
Overview
Types text, formatting and tables into a Google Doc keystroke by keystroke, with human speed, pauses, typos and fixes.
Typewright types your text into Google Docs one keystroke at a time, the way a person would. It's built for testing typing-analysis and AI-detection tools against documents with a realistic writing history. PASTE OR IMPORT • Paste text from Google Docs, Word or a web page. Formatting comes with it. • Or import a PDF. Headings, bold, italic, lists and tables are kept. Tagged PDFs keep their exact structure; for other PDFs the structure is worked out from the layout. • Check and edit everything in the built-in editor before typing starts. TYPES LIKE A PERSON • Uneven speed: common letter pairs come quicker, capitals and symbols slower, and the pace drifts over time. • Natural pauses after commas, sentences and paragraphs, plus occasional longer thinking breaks. • Realistic typos (neighbouring keys, swapped, dropped or doubled letters) that get noticed and fixed, sometimes a few letters later. • Word swaps: now and then it starts one word, deletes it and writes another. • Before typing begins, every run is checked to make sure the finished text matches yours exactly. KEEPS YOUR FORMATTING • Headings, bold, italic and underline, applied with Docs' own keyboard shortcuts. • Bulleted and numbered lists, including nested items. • Tables: an empty table is inserted, then each cell is typed in turn. YOU'RE IN CONTROL • Set roughly how long it should take. Speed and pauses are fitted to that time without going faster or slower than a real typist. • Choose the typo level (off, low, medium, high) and switch word swaps and thinking breaks on or off. • Pause, resume or stop at any time from the side panel, with live progress and time remaining. • Optionally turns off Docs autocorrect, smart quotes and auto-lists while typing, then switches them back on when it's done. PRIVATE AND FREE • Everything runs in your browser. No account, no API keys, no servers. • Your text and PDFs never leave your computer. HOW TO USE 1. Open a Google Doc and click the Typewright icon to open the side panel. 2. Paste your text or import a PDF, and set the time and typo level. 3. Click in the Doc where typing should start, then press Start typing. You get a 3-second countdown. GOOD TO KNOW • Chrome shows a "debugging this browser" bar while Typewright types. Docs only accepts real keystrokes, so it needs this access. Closing the bar pauses typing. • Keep the Docs tab open while it types. • Inserting a table uses the clipboard, so whatever you'd copied is replaced. • Scanned PDFs (images of text) need OCR before they can be imported. • The automatic Docs settings switch only works when Docs is set to English.
