Overview

Expand your Typerelay snippets in Chrome and on Chromebooks.

Less typing. More doing. Typerelay brings your reusable snippets into Chrome. Turn short abbreviations into longer text, find saved responses from the toolbar, and keep frequently used content close at hand. Whether you’re answering customers, writing emails, filling out forms, or repeating the same instructions, Typerelay helps you spend less time retyping. • Expand your everyday shortcuts Type a snippet abbreviation in a supported editable web field to insert its content. Use snippets for email replies, introductions, meeting details, support answers, signatures, and other text you reuse. • Find snippets without remembering every abbreviation Open Typerelay from the Chrome toolbar to search your library. Select a snippet, copy it, and paste it where you need it. Copying also works without the desktop companion. • Reuse rich content Bring formatting, links, and images along with your snippets where the destination supports them. The final appearance depends on the website or editor receiving the content. • Personalize reusable responses Use snippets with variable prompts to fill in details before copying or expanding them. Keep the reusable parts consistent while adapting each response. • Keep working offline Typerelay keeps a local copy of synced snippets, so your existing library remains available when you lose your connection. Cached snippet images can also be available offline. Signing in and receiving updates require a connection to your server. • Connect to your Typerelay account Sign in, choose your account, and connect the browser as a device. Manage your snippets in the Typerelay web app and sync them to the extension. You can also configure the extension to connect to your own Typerelay server. Getting started 1. Install the extension and open its settings. 2. Sign in to Typerelay, select your account, and choose Connect device. 3. Let your snippets sync. 4. Search and copy snippets from the toolbar, or use abbreviation expansion in supported fields. Desktop and Chromebook support On macOS, Windows, and Linux, automatic abbreviation expansion requires the Typerelay desktop companion and its browser connection. The desktop app and extension coordinate expansion when you move between desktop apps and supported browser fields. On ChromeOS, the extension handles supported browser-field expansion without a desktop companion. Compatibility Typerelay works in supported editable fields on websites. Some sites use specialized editors that limit automatic insertion or rich content. In Google Docs, use the toolbar to find and copy a snippet, then paste it into your document. Automatic abbreviation expansion in Google Docs is not supported. The extension does not expand text in Chrome’s address bar, internal browser pages, or native applications. Permissions and your data Website access lets Typerelay recognize supported editable fields and expand snippets where you type. Clipboard permission lets Typerelay copy a selected snippet to your clipboard, replacing its current contents. The extension does not request permission to read your clipboard. Local browser storage holds synced snippets, account connection tokens, and cached snippet images for offline use. Native messaging lets the extension coordinate expansion with the Typerelay desktop companion. This connection exchanges a short-lived coordination signal; it does not send snippets or field contents to the desktop companion. The extension sends sign-in and sync requests to your selected Typerelay server. It does not send the contents of the fields you type in to Typerelay. A few keys. Your words. Time back.
