Typeback – Recover Lost Text & Form Data
Overview
Never lose what you typed. Typeback saves your text as you write and restores it after a crash, logout or accidental refresh.
You wrote three paragraphs. The session expired. Everything is gone. Typeback quietly saves long text as you type it, anywhere on the web, and hands it back the moment you land on an empty field. No account, no setup, nothing to remember. HOW IT WORKS Type anywhere. Typeback saves in the background. When you come back to a field that should have text in it, a small green return arrow appears in the corner. Click it, pick a version, done. Restoring never overwrites what you already have, and one click undoes it. The field you restored lights up briefly so you can see exactly what got filled. Ways to get your text back: - The arrow in the field itself - Alt+Shift+R restores the last draft into the field you are in - Alt+Shift+P refills every field on the page at once, for when a whole form gets wiped - Right-click a field, then "Restore saved text here" - The toolbar popup, with search across everything you have written, or filtered to just the site you are on BUILT FOR THE MODERN WEB Most form recovery tools only understand plain text boxes, which is why they fail on so many modern sites. Typeback also works inside rich editors and web components, the kind used by AI chat tools, webmail, discussion forums, developer issue trackers, and website admin panels. If you can type into it, Typeback can usually bring it back. It saves fast and saves the instant you are about to lose text, the moment you leave a field, hit reload, or close a tab. SEE HOW OFTEN IT SAVED YOU Typeback keeps a private count on your device of how many times it brought your text back, and how many words you would have lost. Open the Stats tab to see it, and share a card of your numbers if you like. The card shows only the count, never a single word of what you wrote. VERSION HISTORY Typeback keeps up to 25 snapshots per field, so you can go back three steps, not just one. Each one is stamped with the time you wrote it, and you can preview the full text before restoring. PRIVATE BY DESIGN Everything stays in your browser. Typeback has no server, no account and makes no network requests, and you can verify it in the permissions. Your drafts are encrypted on your device, and you can export them to a file or import a backup at any time. On a shared computer, turn on Privacy Lock to require a passphrase before your saved drafts can be viewed. The automatic rescue keeps working, and only the list is locked. Never saved, ever: - Passwords and password fields - Card numbers, CVV codes and IBANs - One-time codes and API keys - Banking, payment and password-manager sites - Incognito windows, unless you turn it on Add your own sites to the never-save list, choose how long drafts are kept, or pause capture entirely, all from the popup in one click. FREE All features, no limits, no ads, no affiliate links, no tracking. Looking for a Lazarus Form Recovery alternative that still works today? That is exactly why Typeback exists.
