Twitter/X Downloader
Overview
Download any media (photos, GIFs, videos) from X (Twitter) with one click.
Save any tweet's media with a single click. Twitter/X Downloader adds a small download button next to the share and bookmark icons on every tweet that contains media. No popups, no third-party websites, no copy-pasting URLs — your files go straight to your Downloads folder. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ WHAT IT DOWNLOADS ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ • Photos — at original resolution, never the compressed feed version • Videos — the highest-bitrate MP4 variant available on the tweet • GIFs — saved as MP4 (the actual format X serves) • Multi-photo tweets — all images downloaded at once, numbered automatically ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ HOW IT WORKS ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ 1. Open x.com or twitter.com. 2. Find any tweet with a photo, GIF or video. 3. Click the green download icon at the end of the action bar. 4. The file lands in your Downloads folder, named after the author and tweet ID. Visual feedback at every step: • Green icon — ready to download • Spinning icon — fetching • Purple icon — finished, file saved • Red icon — something went wrong (a clear error message tells you why) ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ PRIVACY & PERMISSIONS ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ • No analytics, no tracking, no telemetry. • No remote servers — everything runs locally in your browser. • No accounts, no sign-ups, no API keys. • Your browsing data never leaves your machine. Permissions explained: • downloads — to save files via Chrome's native download API • host access to x.com / twitter.com — to detect tweets and add the button • host access to video.twimg.com / pbs.twimg.com — X's media CDNs, only used as download sources ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ FILE NAMING ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ Downloads are automatically named for easy organization: • Single media: username-tweetID.mp4 • Multiple media: username-tweetID-1.jpg, username-tweetID-2.jpg, … ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ KNOWN LIMITATIONS ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ • Live streams and some long-form videos are served as HLS only (no direct MP4). These will show an error — MP4 mux support is on the roadmap. • If you click on a tweet that hasn't finished loading from X's API, the extension waits a few seconds. If it still can't find the media, opening the tweet on its own page usually fixes it. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ LEGAL ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ This extension is intended for personal use only. Downloading and redistributing third-party content may violate X's Terms of Service and the original creator's copyright. Please use responsibly and respect the rights of content owners. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ Free. Open. No strings attached.
