TWCC Universal Translator - Twitch Chat

Translate the focused input field via hotkey using OpenAI, with configurable languages.

TWCC Universal Translator brings real-time translation to Twitch chat and to any text field you're typing in, all driven by a hotkey and powered by your own OpenAI API key. WHAT IT DOES The extension supports two workflows: 1. Translate the focused field. Click into any text input, textarea, or contenteditable editor on any page, type your message in your own language, and press a hotkey. The extension replaces your text with the translation, ready to send. 2. Translate Twitch chat live. Open a twitch.tv channel and press the chat-translation hotkey. Incoming chat messages are translated inline in italic green, with usernames, badges, emotes, and timestamps preserved. Press the hotkey again to turn translation off and restore the original chat. FEATURES • ~250 supported language entries, including auto-detect for incoming Twitch chat • Two configurable hotkeys (default Ctrl+Shift+Y and Ctrl+Shift+U; remappable from chrome://extensions/shortcuts) • Works in regular text inputs, textareas, contenteditable editors, and focused fields inside iframes • Translates only the selected portion of a field, or the whole field if nothing is selected • Inline live Twitch chat translations preserve usernames, timestamps, badges, and emotes • Toggling chat translation off restores all original messages • Single-tab Twitch lock — turning chat translation on in one tab automatically turns it off in any other Twitch tab • Quick language controls in the toolbar popup, full Options page for the API key and language defaults • Speaker-voice setting for languages that require gendered first-person agreement SETUP You need an OpenAI API key. The extension does not include one. 1. Visit platform.openai.com and add billing credits if needed. 2. Create a secret key at platform.openai.com/api-keys. 3. Open the extension's Options page and paste the key into OpenAI > API Key. 4. Click Save. Set your preferred languages in the popup or Options page and start translating. SHORTCUTS • Translate focused field: Ctrl+Shift+Y (Windows/Linux), Command+Shift+Y (Mac) • Toggle Twitch chat translation: Ctrl+Shift+U (Windows/Linux), Command+Shift+U (Mac) Chrome may leave a shortcut unassigned if it conflicts with another extension. You can change or restore shortcuts at chrome://extensions/shortcuts. The popup always shows the shortcut Chrome currently has assigned. PRIVACY Your OpenAI API key and language preferences are stored locally in chrome.storage.local on your browser profile. Nothing is sent to any server we operate — we do not run any servers. When you trigger a translation, the text you submit is sent directly from your browser to https://api.openai.com/v1/responses, using your API key in the Authorization header.
