ChatGPT Performance Manager is a local-first Chrome extension for long ChatGPT conversations. It applies conservative, reversible browser rendering hints to older mounted conversation turns and code blocks while keeping recent content protected. Safe is the default mode; Balanced is an explicit user-selectable mode with guarded fallback to Safe. The extension is intentionally narrow in scope: - runs only on chatgpt.com; - stores extension settings locally in Chrome; - does not delete or modify ChatGPT server-side conversation history; - does not intercept message-send requests; - does not collect analytics or telemetry; - does not transmit conversation content, credentials, cookies, or account information; - uses no remote code. Native ChatGPT virtualization is treated as diagnostic information only; CPM continues its own configured optimization unless a real runtime or safety failure occurs. Turbo and Adaptive research code is not loaded by the production extension and is not included in the production package.
