Overview
Send the YouTube video you're watching to the TubeFold app for a Markdown summary.
TubeFold turns long YouTube videos into clean, structured Markdown notes — using the AI subscription you already have. This extension is a companion to the TubeFold desktop app for macOS. While you're watching a video on YouTube, click the TubeFold toolbar button to send the current video to the app, which generates a structured Markdown summary with the key ideas, arguments, and takeaways — ready for Obsidian, your notes, or a personal knowledge base. ⚠️ Requires the free, open-source TubeFold app for macOS, running on the same Mac: https://tubefold.github.io/ Why TubeFold is different: • Bring your own AI — it uses the Codex CLI or Claude Code subscription already authenticated on your Mac. No TubeFold account, no separate API key, no extra subscription. • Local-first — the extension only talks to the TubeFold app on your own machine (127.0.0.1). Your transcripts and notes stay on your Mac. • Privacy-first — no analytics, no telemetry, no tracking. • Open source — inspect exactly how it works and adapt it to your workflow. How to use: 1. Install the TubeFold app for macOS and connect your Codex CLI or Claude Code. 2. Open any YouTube video. 3. Click the TubeFold extension button to send it to the app. 4. Read the structured Markdown summary in your TubeFold library.
