TubeFilter – Block YouTube Shorts & Facebook Reels

Less scrolling. More control over your feed.

TubeFilter keeps YouTube and Facebook useful without leaving the endless short-video entrances in place. WHAT IT BLOCKS • YouTube Shorts on home, search, navigation, and direct Shorts pages • Facebook Reels entries and direct Reels pages Facebook Stories, Watch, the normal feed, Marketplace, profiles, and Pages remain available. TubeFilter targets Reels only, and profiles whose names merely start with a blocked word are not treated as Reels. FILTER YOUTUBE CHANNELS On a YouTube watch page or channel page, use the Block button beside the subscribe area to add or remove that channel. TubeFilter then hides matching video cards from home, search, playlists, and recommendations. Channels are matched by an exact channel ID, @handle, or normalized display name—not by a loose substring—so names that merely contain the same text remain visible. When YouTube exposes only a display name, two channels with the exact same name can still match. Use the side panel's live filter to find blocked channels and remove entries at any time. PRIVATE BY DESIGN TubeFilter content scripts inspect YouTube and Facebook page structure locally to identify the content selected for hiding. When a YouTube channel is blocked, the channel identity needed for matching is stored with Chrome's built-in sync storage. TubeFilter has no account, analytics, advertising, tracking, remote code, or developer-operated server, and sends no page content or settings to the developer or third parties. If Chrome Sync is enabled, Chrome may sync settings through the signed-in profile. LIGHTWEIGHT AND FOCUSED TubeFilter runs only on YouTube and Facebook. YouTube Shorts and Facebook Reels have independent switches, and each switch is enabled by default until the user turns it off. Click the TubeFilter toolbar icon to open settings in the Chrome side panel.
