Overview

Applies your family rules in this browser and lets your child ask before opening a site. No browsing history.

Your child browses normally. Trusty Shield brings your family's rules into the browser they already use. CONNECT THIS BROWSER TO YOUR HOUSEHOLD Setup takes one code. The browser shows a pairing code, you enter it in the Trusty Shield app on your own phone, and you are done. Your parent account never has to stay signed in on your child's browser. ASK FIRST FOR WEBSITES When your child opens a site your family rules have not allowed yet, Shield holds it and shows a calm screen with a way to ask. Not an error page. Not a warning. REVIEW FIRST The request lands in Review First in your Trusty Shield app: Riley wants discord.com. You choose Allow, Wait, or Decline, and your child sees the answer in the browser. PLAIN-LANGUAGE EXPLANATIONS For sites and apps we have a trusted explanation for, you get what it is, why kids use it, what parents should know, and what to talk about. When we do not have one, you get only the facts we actually have. Trusty Shield does not invent a description. FAMILY RULES IN ONE PLACE The rules you already set in Trusty Shield apply here too. Change a rule on your phone and this browser picks it up. PARENT CODE The controls that could end protection sit behind your household's Parent Code: disconnecting this browser, moving it to another child, renaming it. A child at the keyboard is asked for the code and gets nothing without it. Wrong entries make the browser wait longer between tries. The code can only be set or replaced by a signed-in parent in the Trusty Shield app, never from this browser, and it is not the pairing code from setup. There is no off switch, no pause and no snooze anywhere in the extension. The surest way a child cannot turn protection off is for no such control to exist. SHIELD STATUS Your household shows whether this browser is connected and when its rules last synced. Trusty Shield reports what it can actually see, and says so plainly. It will tell you a browser has not checked in recently. It will not tell you your child disabled anything, because a missing check-in is not proof of that. PRIVACY, BY ARCHITECTURE Trusty Shield does not collect your child's browsing history. There is no history screen in the app, because there is no history being collected. The family rules are handed to the browser and the browser applies them itself, so Trusty Shield is never told which sites your child opened. Google searches never leave the browser. The phrase is matched on this device against a local list of known apps and sites. A search that matches nothing produces no Trusty Shield network request at all. Trusty Shield for the browser is included with a Trusty Shield household plan.
