Overview
Find a real source for any claim. Highlight it, paste it, or check both sides.
Trust Me Bro finds a real source for a claim and tells you when there isn't one. Highlight a sentence on any page or type a claim into the toolbar box. The extension sends that text to our engine, which searches published literature, reads what it finds, and comes back with a verdict, a confidence figure, the strongest source on each side, and a citation you can copy in APA, MLA, Chicago or BibTeX. Two shapes for evidence: A citation points at a paper. That is what you want when you are writing and a marker will ask where a statement came from. A receipt settles a question. Claim, verdict, evidence for, evidence against, confidence, on a link you can share with the person you were arguing with. What it does - Highlight anything and check it. The pill appears on your selection, and nothing leaves your browser until you click it. - Ask a question in plain words. "Did Einstein really say that?" "Did the marshmallow test hold up?" You get both sides, weighed. - Copy a citation that resolves. Every reference is built from the record of a paper that exists, never assembled at the moment of display. - Scan a whole draft in the side panel. It flags the statements that assert a fact without support, types them (statistic, causal, attributed to a scholar with no reference), and offers a citation for each. - Share the receipt. Every check can become a public page: claim, verdict, sources, confidence, with no link to you or your account. What it refuses to do It will not invent a source, and it will not invent a quote. Quoted passages are checked against the source text in code before you ever see them, and a quote that cannot be verified is dropped rather than printed. When the literature does not settle a claim, the verdict says CONTESTED or INSUFFICIENT EVIDENCE and says why. When a claim is a myth, it says REFUTED and shows you the work. Free, and what costs money Free gives you a small monthly allowance of checks, the toolbar box, the right-click menu and the keyboard shortcut. Bro and Pro add the highlight pill, essay scanning, deeper searches across more databases, and argument critique. Subscriptions are handled on our own site, not in the store. Privacy, plainly The extension reads text you have selected and asked about, and nothing else. It does not watch what you browse, it has no analytics, and it does not sell or license your identity. Claims we have not seen before can appear anonymously in our public Trust Feed and wiki, stripped of any link to you, your account or the page you were reading. The first screen you see after installing says all of this before a single word is sent anywhere, and you have to accept it before the extension will work.
