Overview

Watch YouTube live streams with the lowest delay the stream and your internet allow. Adapts on its own. No data collection.

YouTube's "live" isn't really live. The player deliberately holds you several seconds behind the broadcast, and part of that video is already sitting downloaded on your computer. That's why your neighbor celebrates the goal before you even see the play, and why chat reacts to moments you haven't watched yet. TrueLive reduces YouTube live stream delay to the minimum the broadcast and your internet allow, keeping you pinned to the newest point available. WHAT IT DOES - Super Live mode: the lowest possible latency for this stream, protected by 4 automatic layers: a safety floor measured from your own connection, preemptive reaction to bitrate spikes, instant rescue instead of freezing (playback speed never drops below 1.0x), and automatic backoff if your connection can't keep up. - Auto mode: low latency without thinking about it. Reads your connection and adjusts by itself. - Real delay badge (optional): see in seconds how far behind live you are. Actually measured from the stream's own clock, not estimated. WHO IT'S FOR - Sports fans watching live matches without spoilers from the neighbors, other rooms, or faster apps - Esports viewers who want to react with the play, not after the chat - Anyone following launches, drops, announcements and breaking news in real time - Viewers who want their screen in sync with live chat HONEST NUMBERS How much you gain depends on the stream (the channel picks its latency class). On low-latency streams we measured about 3 to 4 seconds from broadcast to screen, broadcast TV territory, versus about 7 seconds on the default player. On normal-latency channels the physical floor is higher (10s+) and no extension can break it. TrueLive guarantees you the minimum from wherever that floor is. Methodology is public in the repository. PRIVACY No sign-up, no data collection, no external requests. Everything runs locally in your browser. Free and open source (GPL-3.0). Shortcut: Alt+Shift+Y (Cmd+Shift+Y on Mac) toggles TrueLive on or off.
