See the time behind every price. True Cost turns prices on supported Iranian shopping websites into the working time needed to earn that amount, based on your own hourly wage. Instead of seeing only a price tag, see what a purchase means in hours of your life. For example, if your hourly wage is 200,000 Toman, an item priced at 800,000 Toman represents four hours of work. FEATURES • Personalized calculations: enter your hourly wage and working hours per day. • Flexible time views: choose hours, days, or months of work. • Two display modes: replace detected prices with time estimates, or keep the original prices and reveal the time cost when you hover. • Iranian price recognition: works with Toman and Rial prices, including Persian and English digits. • Manual price selection: select a price that was not detected automatically and save a custom detection rule for that website. • Optional access to additional websites: enable the extension on another website after approving access to that specific site. • Language options: settings and calculated results are available in Persian and English. • Quick controls: pause or resume the extension from its popup. GETTING STARTED 1. Open the extension and enter your hourly wage in Toman. 2. Set your working hours per day and preferred time view. 3. Visit a supported shopping website to see detected prices expressed as working time. WEBSITE AND LANGUAGE COVERAGE True Cost is designed primarily for Iranian shopping websites. Built-in detection rules include sites such as Digikala, Torob, Emalls, Divar, and Technolife. Detection depends on each website's layout and may not recognize every price. Additional-site activation is experimental and does not guarantee compatibility with every website. Automatic support for currencies such as USD, EUR, and GBP is not currently included. The interface is Persian-first. English is available for settings and calculation results, while the popup and manual picker currently contain Persian text. PRIVACY AND CONTROL Price calculations run in your browser. There is no advertising or analytics tracking, and no True Cost account is required. Preferences and custom detection rules are stored using Chrome storage. Settings may sync across your browsers when Chrome Sync is enabled. The extension also requests public wage and site-detection datasets from GitHub, with bundled fallback data. If you choose to suggest a website through the manual picker, its URL, selected sample text, currency, and detection rule are sent to GitHub to prefill an issue form. Publishing that issue requires a separate action on GitHub. True Cost is open source.
