Transfer One Google drive to Another

Question re privacy practices, info collecting. Is this just to enable the ext to be operational?

Google doesn't really give enough information, or maybe the devs don't not sure. I understand from using Android many years that numerous apps re: permissions and access to various data that on the face of it seems like "Why would they need that?" (just for example: share location data). But then you come to find out in tech threads that the permissions are required to enable the app to work at all, usually due to some Google back-end requirement re access to different parts of Android OS. .... Thus, I ask: What is the reason you need all the personal data you collect? I'm not saying this is bad, I'm just seeking clarity re the why. Thank you
