Transcript Sidecar is a simple Chrome extension for viewing, copying, formatting, and exporting captions available on YouTube videos directly from Chrome’s Side Panel. Open a YouTube video and launch Transcript Sidecar to view the available transcript without leaving the video page. The extension retrieves captions silently without automatically opening YouTube’s own transcript panel or changing the state of the video description, so the page stays unobstructed while you use the Side Panel. Main features: - View the full transcript in Chrome’s Side Panel - Switch between available caption languages - Copy the full transcript with one click - Create cleaner, readable paragraphs without changing the content - Copy transcript text with timestamps - Copy as Markdown with the video title and URL - Save transcripts locally as TXT or Markdown files - Click a timestamp to jump to that point in the video - Switch the interface between English and Japanese Privacy: - No account required - No ads - No analytics or tracking - Transcript text is not sent to Tokumaru Labs or a developer-operated transcript server - Formatting and export are performed locally in the extension - No remotely hosted runtime JavaScript or WebAssembly - Host permissions are limited to YouTube Transcript Sidecar works with captions and transcripts made available by YouTube.
