Overview
Thin top bar with your most-visited links per site.
Bookmarks are stale. History is a firehose. Trail Bar splits the difference: it quietly notices which pages you actually use on each site and keeps the top five one glance away — inside a thin bar you toggle with a hotkey. ━ The problem ━ You keep opening the same JIRA board, the same Azure resource, the same Notion doc, the same Gmail label. Bookmarking each is tedious. Searching history means knowing what you're looking for. Neither groups your habits by site. Trail Bar is the missing middle: automatic like history, curated like bookmarks, per-site. ━ What it does ━ • Tracks the pages you visit on each site and how long you spend there • Ranks them: visits × log(1 + average dwell seconds), so pages you read outrank drive-by clicks • Shows the top 5 in a thin bar at the top of the page • Ctrl+Shift+K (⌘+Shift+K on Mac) to show or hide • Persists across page loads and tabs once toggled on • Settings menu to instantly wipe data for the current site or every site ━ Works on modern web apps ━ Single-page apps like Azure Portal, Gmail, Notion, Linear, and Salesforce navigate without full page loads. Trail Bar detects in-page route changes so each screen counts as its own destination. ━ Privacy is the whole point ━ • All data stays in your browser's local storage • Nothing is ever transmitted — no server, no analytics, no telemetry, no cookies, no ads, no third parties • No account required • Uninstalling wipes everything Full policy: https://github.com/jhaspider/trail-bar/blob/main/PRIVACY.md ━ Open source ━ MIT licensed. Read the code, file issues, contribute: https://github.com/jhaspider/trail-bar ━ How to use ━ 1. Install the extension. 2. Browse normally — Trail Bar starts learning right away. 3. Press Ctrl+Shift+K (⌘+Shift+K on Mac) to see your top links on any site. 4. Click the gear icon for settings.
